3. holding firmly together; cohering.

5 Reasons why consistency is important

  1. Consistency allows for measurement.

When you try something for a long period of time, it allows you to find out whether something works or not.

      2. Consistency creates accountability.

There should be a set time to go over anything in your life to remain responsible and accountable. For instance every Sunday, I go over the prior week and following week to evaluate what I’ve accomplished and the tasks I have yet to complete the coming week, that way, I can keep track of what I’ve done and what I need to do. Keeping a planner is very helpful. Writing everything down allows you to keep a log to check off what you need to do and you’ll be able to go back anytime to reflect.

     3. Consistency establishes your reputation.

It is easy to read someone by how consistent their behavior is. If someone is always calling with negativity, gossip, talking about someone behind their back then that person can be labeled as messy or negative. Their behavior is consistent of that who is messy so you treat them as such. It may not be intentional. It may just be who they are. But because their behavior is consistent, it allows one to recognize who they are and gives you the opportunity to either choose to tolerate it or not. Same as one who is positive etc.

     4. Consistency makes you relevant.

People need a predictable flow of information from you. For example if you vow to write a blog every week, people will be looking out for it every week. If you are into music, people will be looking for new music from you. Consistency with your audience will create a sense of loyalty from them.

     5. Consistency maintains your message.

People pay as much or more attention to what you do as to what you say. Consistency in what you do serves as a model for how people will behave. If you’re a boss or a leader and you treat a meeting as unimportant, don't be surprised when you find your team are doing the same to fellow teammates or even customers. You have to live and believe what you promote or else credibility will be lost. Like my old principal used to say "People may doubt what you say but will believe what you do."
